Consider basal body temperature (BBT) charting. Track your temperature daily using a basal thermometer. A sustained rise in temperature after a few days of lower temperatures suggests ovulation. Remember to chart at the same time each day, before getting out of bed.
Ultrasound Monitoring
Your doctor can use ultrasound to directly visualize your follicles developing and confirm ovulation by detecting a ruptured follicle or the presence of a corpus luteum. This provides a very clear picture of your ovarian activity.
Ovulation Predictor Kits (OPKs): Different Approach
While you’ve experienced false positives with OPKs, try a different brand. Different kits use varying detection methods and might give more accurate results. Alternatively, try saliva ovulation tests; they detect changes in the consistency of saliva linked to ovulation.
Cervical Mucus Observation
Monitor your cervical mucus. Look for changes in texture; before ovulation, it’s usually thin, clear and stretchy like egg white. This “egg white cervical mucus” is a strong indicator of fertility. Document the changes daily.
