Administering Tetracycline Eye Ointment to Your Cat

First, gently restrain your cat. A towel can help. Next, carefully clean the affected eye with a warm, damp cotton ball, wiping from the inner corner outwards. Avoid rubbing.

Applying the Ointment

Slightly pull down your cat’s lower eyelid to create a pocket. Squeeze a thin ribbon of ointment (about 1/4 inch) into this pocket. Avoid touching the tube tip to the eye. Gently release the eyelid. Close the tube immediately.

After Application

Gently wipe away any excess ointment. Monitor your cat for any adverse reactions, such as increased redness, swelling, or excessive squinting. Contact your veterinarian immediately if you see these signs. Administer the ointment as directed by your vet; dosage and frequency vary. Proper hand hygiene before and after treatment is crucial.

Storage

Store the ointment in a cool, dark place as directed on the label. Refrigeration might be necessary. Discard any unused ointment after the expiry date.
